Data Breach at Los Angeles County Museum of Art

Source: Los Angeles Magazine “On Jul. 11, 2025, we detected a cybersecurity incident involving unauthorized activity in portions of our computer systems.

We immediately began investigating and responding to that incident,” a statement published by the Los Angeles Count Museum of Art (LACMA) read.

This led to some customer and employee information, such as Social Security numbers, payment-card information, health-insurance information, and more potentially being accessed. After the detection, LACMA contacted a data-review firm to analyze what content was breached. The results did not come until Feb. 2026.

The notice given to individuals impacted by the leak was sent out Aug. 24, 2026. LACMA has been working on investigating unauthorized access with third-party experts while further securing their own systems. Notice is being sent to affected individuals, and a public notice was posted on their website.
