China’s Biopharma Job Market Rebounds on AI and Smart-Device Boom

China’s biopharmaceutical job market is recovering from a funding-led downturn, with hiring for AI drug discovery, smart medical devices and overseas expansion rising sharply in the first half of 2026.

Openings related to AI-driven drug discovery rose 84.0% from a year earlier, while positions tied to smart medical devices surged 113.1%, according to a recent report by Chinese recruitment platform Zhaopin.

Jobs involving overseas expansion increased 10.0%.
