Zeit AI, a startup developing autonomous data engineering technology, has raised €5 million in funding to expand its platform for mid-sized European companies. Investors in the round include Y Combinator, the University of Oxford's Seed Fund, the Sequoia Capital Scout Fund, ACE Ventures and Hasso Plattner VC. The round also included angel investors Christian Lindner, Mario Götze, Charlie Songhurst, Martin Schoeller and Helsing CTO Robert Fink.

Founded in 2024 by Palantir alumni Leopold von Waldthausen and Marvin Bornstein, Zeit AI develops ZeitMind, an AI agent designed to automate data engineering tasks and help companies use information spread across their business systems.

The company is targeting mid-sized businesses that often rely on spreadsheets and manual processes when their existing enterprise resource planning (ERP) or financial planning and analysis (FP&A) systems cannot support specific reporting and analytical requirements. Building and maintaining the necessary data infrastructure typically requires specialised data engineering resources, which can be difficult and costly for these companies to access.

ZeitMind connects ERP, customer relationship management (CRM) and more than 600 other source systems. Its AI agent connects and cleans data before building analytics-ready applications based on a company's requirements. The platform is designed to make results traceable to individual transactions and is operated in German data centres.

According to co-founder Leopold von Waldthausen, mid-sized companies increasingly need data engineering capabilities but often struggle to access specialised talent at an affordable cost.

ZeitMind is the autonomous data engineer: it connects the systems, cleans the data and builds the application, with no additional headcount.

The company will use the new capital to expand its reach among mid-sized businesses and hire additional engineers to support the deployment of ZeitMind.
