German quantum computing startup Quint Computing has raised €9.1 million in an initial funding round led by Vsquared, with participation from Quantonation, Nucleus Capital, Faber, Vanagon Ventures and ZOHO.VC, alongside industry experts including Prof. Mikko Möttönen, founder of IQM and QMill. Quint has also been awarded a €2.2 million Pathfinder grant from the European Innovation Council (EIC).

Founded in October 2025 by quantum physicists Prof. Michael Hartmann and Prof. Christopher Eichler, alongside economist Dr Jona Stinner, Quint Computing emerged from research at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) and is part of the Munich Quantum Valley ecosystem.

The company is developing a superconducting quantum chip architecture designed to address one of the main challenges preventing quantum computers from being used in industrial applications: high error rates.

While quantum computers have the potential to solve complex problems beyond the capabilities of conventional supercomputers, their sensitivity to disturbances makes it difficult to perform the operations required for practical applications. Existing error-correction approaches often require additional hardware, increase computational complexity or reduce processing speed, making quantum systems difficult to scale.

Quint aims to address these limitations through its patented processor architecture, which is designed to prevent a significant proportion of errors directly at the hardware level. According to the company, once fully implemented, the technology could reduce system complexity, hardware requirements and energy consumption by a factor of 100 while maintaining high computational speed.

Commenting on the company's technology, Prof. Christopher Eichler, co-founder and CEO of Quint Computing, said:

Our unique processor architecture reduces complexity while maintaining high clock speed. The result is more computing power, lower operational costs and a shorter path to commercialization.

The technology could support applications across industries including pharmaceuticals, chemicals, logistics and manufacturing.

With the new funding, Quint plans to expand its research and engineering team, advance the development of its quantum processor technology and pursue initial industrial deployment projects. The company aims to grow its team, recruiting specialists in quantum chip design, fabrication, error correction and applications.
