Cybersecurity incident at Luminis Health, widespread system outages
Source: Eye On Annapolis Luminis Health, a nonprofit regional health system with a network of more than 100 practice locations in Maryland, is responding to a cybersecurity incident that has disrupted certain computer systems across the health system.
Luminis said it identified the incident and took immediate steps to address it while launching an investigation with legal counsel and third-party cybersecurity experts. As of Sep. 1, some systems remained unavailable while teams worked to restore them safely. This disclosure comes one day after Luminis experienced widespread system outages that lasted throughout Aug.
31. Employees were sent home as the disruption continued, and the hospital went into a Code Black as a result of the system issues.
